With a view to protect the financial interests of the Community and to furthering the enquiries and investigations of the national authorities, OLAF has sought the assistance and the support of the competent Jamaican authorities for the purpose of verifying the legality of the preferential treatment granted to the relevant importations into the Community. In this context, OLAF proposed joint enquiries to be carried out by the competent Jamaican authorities and the Community to identify the suspected irregularities and to prevent future contraventions in the area concerned.
