The rat liver microsome sample (100 µ l), which was preserved at -80 ° C, was fused at 0 ° C and diluted with 0.7 ml of a cold potassium phosphate buffer (100 mM pH7.4). After termination of the reaction by addition of 10 µ l of 2N-HCL, the mixture was incubated again at 37 ° C for 15 minutes and then 30 µ l of this mixture was applied to thin-layer chromatography on silica gel of 0.5 mm in thickness (Merck AG, Art 5744). The chromatograms were developed in toluene/acetone (1/1) and the spot, whose Rf value was between 0.45 to 0.60, were scraped. The obtained products were put into a vial containing 10 ml of scintillator to measure specific radio-activity with a scintillation counter. The activities of the present compounds are shown in Table 4 as comparative data, based on the assumption that the activity of mevinolin (sodium salt) as the reference drug is 100.
