Typical Polymer Intermediates and their Codes” op blz. 330, stellen R en R’ in voornoemde structuurformule in het algemeen ketens voor opgebouwd uit methyleen-groepen: [-CH2-]n. Echter terloops is ook vermeld (blz. 329), dat de ketens (R en R’) tussen de functionele groepen “also may contain hetero atoms such as oxygen (…)”.
