'For example, an application is made by a husband and wife to be jointly employed in the social welfare field. The couple fail their assessment because the husband is considered not to be suitable. The wife then makes a subject access request. The data controller finds it impossible to extricate the wife's information from the husband's in the assessment reports made on their application and blanking out the husband's information is not enough to prevent information about him being disclosed to her. In these circumstances, the preparation of a summary of the information (excluding information about the husband) for presentation to the wife is a more appropriate way of dealing with the wife's subject access request.'
